February HertsmereLotto RoundUp

31 January 2024

Welcome to February’s edition of our HertsmereLotto Roundup, where we look at all the upcoming days that may be of interest to you and your local community!

We are starting off the HertsmereLotto Roundup with Time to Talk Day, which is the first day in February. It is dedicated for people to talk about mental health and help change lives. The day encourages people to open up about mental health to talk about, listen to and support each other. If you are struggling with mental health or know someone else who might be, you can visit the Samaritans website here. Citizens Advice Hertsmere and Herts School Outreach are two of our Good Causes who are helping make a positive difference in our community. You can help support them by clicking here.

Tuesday the 6th is Safer Internet Day. A day dedicated to raising awareness of a safer and better internet for all, particularly for young people and children. Everyone online has a responsibility to keep the space safe for all and we can all help to inspire change, make a difference and manage influence online to build a safer and more inclusive online experience. To find out more and how you can participate, click here.

Chinese New Year is on Saturday the 10th this year and we will be leaving the year of the Rabbit (2023) and entering the year of the Dragon. Happy New Year (新年快乐, pronounced sshin nyen kwhy-luh) to all of you celebrating this month!

Sunday 11th February is International Day of Women and Girls in Science (IDWGS).

If you read last month's article, you will know that it was World Braille Day on the 4th. Following on from this, the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, for the first time ever, will also be including a science workshop for blind girls, and a session on ‘Science in Braille: making Science Accessible’ in their activities. You could show your support, by purchasing a ticket on the lottery, supporting our local Good Cause, the Visually Impaired Club.

Don’t forget your pancake ingredients for Tuesday the 13th as this is the day before Lent starts. What’s your favourite toppings to put on your pancakes? Let us know on our social media posts! For those who participate, what are your plans for Lent? Are you giving something up, for example, chocolate or crisps? Instead, why not try taking something up for a change? You could volunteer some time at your local Good Cause, or support them by purchasing a lottery ticket here.

‘Being with you is like winning the lottery’

This Valentine’s Day show your loved one what they mean to you, whilst also helping your local community, by registering as a lottery supporter. Did you know that each ticket you purchase has a 1 in 50 chance of winning a prize each week, with a top prize of £25,000! That’s a better chance of winning than the National Lottery or the Health Lottery. So why not sign up here and increase your odds of winning?

The 22nd of February is a day of celebration all over the world by Girl Guides and Scouts. World Thinking Day is a day to celebrate being part of an international movement. They celebrate by encouraging members to think about the big issues affecting them and our global community. In previous years, subjects have included gender inequality, poverty and environmental sustainability. You can help our Good Cause, 1st Elstree and Borehamwood Scout Group celebrate, by purchasing a lottery ticket here.

Congratulations to the winner on the Your School Lottery, who was supporting Christ the King Catholic Primary School Good Cause, and won the January Super Draw prize. Make sure you’ve got your tickets ready for February’s prize draw, taking place on Saturday 24th, as you could be the lucky individual winning the ULTIMATE Nintendo Switch Bundle!

You could be the lucky winner with nonstop excitement with this amazing game bundle! Transform your fitness routine with Switch Sport and Ring Fit Adventure, rally your family for thrilling Mario Kart races, or embark on a legendary quest in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Plus, elevate your gaming experience with a 50” UltraHD Smart TV included. It’s not just gaming; it’s an adventure in your living room!
