Hertsmere Roundup January 2024 Edition

02 January 2024

Welcome to the first HertsmereLotto Roundup of 2024!

We hope everyone had an enjoyable festive season however you chose to spend it.

I think it’s a must at the start of January to ask what everyone’s New Year’s resolutions are. Is anyone taking part in Veganuray or Dry January?

If your resolution was to exercise more, did you know that January is Walk Your Dog Month? This would be a perfect opportunity to kick-start that new lifestyle habit. If you have a dog, why not take it out for a walk and gradually make it longer each week?

Thursday 4th of January is World Braille Day. Why not have a go at learning and using braille today and challenge yourself? Our Good Cause the Visually Impaired Club meets fortnightly at Maxwelll Community Centre for the visually impaired community. You can support them by purchasing a ticket here.

We have an exciting new feature starting in January and running until the end of March. Any supporter who refers a Good Cause to the lottery will be put into a draw to be within the chance to win £1,000 along with a donation of up to £1,000 for the cause too! There will be 3 separate draws, which be held at the end of January, February and March.

This month’s Super Prize Draw is taking place on the 27th of January and you could win a £1,000 luxury getaway. A cabin in the lakes, a luxury spa break, a West-End musical weekend, or jump on the Eurostar for a European escape – the choice is yours – to be sure to have your tickets sorted before the 27th!

National Winnie the Pooh Day falls on Thursday 18th this year and to celebrate here is one of my favourite quotes from Eeyore – “A little consideration, a little thought for others, makes all the difference”, showing that even the smallest act of kindness can make a big difference to someone.

You could help make a difference to someone in the community by supporting one of our registered Good Causes using the link here.

Race Against Dementia Day is held on Sunday 21st this month, which would be the perfect occasion to support our local Good Cause, Tuesday Dementia Club. They are located at Fairway Hall, WD6 5BT every Tuesday afternoon from 2-4pm. They provide an opportunity for families living with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia, the isolated and lonely, those who have lost loved ones or those who want to have fun! The Club provides weekly chair-based exercises, a quiz, entertainment and refreshments. So be sure to click the link here to support them.

For any Scots reading this, I wish you a happy Burns Night on the 25th with lots of Haggis, neeps & tatties awaiting you and we will see you all at the start of February for the next HertsmereLotto Roundup!
